In more than a few pages of my memoir, I write about getting high after school with my boyfriends. We’d waste the sunny days away in the shadows of their rooms, smoke swallowing us whole as we gazed up at the Forever 27 posters on their walls, like the floating faces of Hendrix, Joplin, and Kurt Cobain were a place to reach.

Still Standing is priced at $27 to honor those who didn’t make it out of addiction, and to celebrate those of us who are—against all odds—still standing. The black detailing in this design represents the dark pit so many of our loved ones have fallen into, leaving the world too soon. Rest in peace Sam Howe | 1988-2024 & Dave Savary | 1988-2020. We raise our mugs to you.

eleVe’s Memorial Mugs do not tell a story “about” tragedy, but survival. Every sip is a quiet, defiant celebration of the fact that pain doesn’t have to win. Whether you yourself or someone you love has been caught in the jaws of addiction, we lift our nonalcoholic bevvies up to the hot hope burning inside those who are still alive.

The ultimate goal is for all of our Still Standing profits to funnel directly into our STILL STANDING SCHOLARSHIP, which are grants reserved for someone who has battled—or is still battling—addiction, awarding them with masters-level fine arts instruction within a creative cohort to support their choice to make something new out of their hurt. In our current genesis stage of eleVe’s business, a portion of these initial pieces will be exclusively set aside as “badges of honor” to gift eleVe’s future dedicated patrons, and to award our future Still Standing Scholars.
