Survivors Series
This December, breast cancer survivor, literary writer, & trained dancer Victoria Sottosanti (V) invites you to invest three Thursdays in yourself and the stories our bodies tell in this three-par somatic stories workshop designed specifically for V’s sister-survivors of breast cancer.
2-hour workshop includes MFA-led story circle, dance as detox, and somatic mat work to find freedom in moving through (and inevitably, alongside) what we've been and are still going through.
Therapeutic modalities include dance, breathwork, hydration, storytelling, music, & choreographed somatic movement. No dance experience required. The only thing required is that you've had (or still have) breast cancer.
All survivors receive complimentary green or herbal tea & lemon-infused water.

The movement of our bodies in the studio is a violent attack back on the shadows that once held the microphone of our pain. Through our movement to music, we remake. — V
our somatic offerings
are likely unique from what one might typically experience;
our movements are wholly interlinked to the
rhythms and cadences of music.
V approaches somatic work as any
trained dancer & serious storyteller would:
with strategic intent
both seen and felt as an effortless
surf through sound & song.
Our bodies tell a story. They hold memories once surfaced, then buried. The pain clings—begs to remain. Our human instincts to protect ourselves from more suffering via paralysis and escape is what makes somatic work so important for those who have survived a traumatic or tragic event. The movement of our bodies in the studio is a violent attack back on the shadows that once held the microphone of our pain. Through our movement to music, we remake.
